Facial Shapes and Hat Styles
Hat styles are abundant! Hat shapes, brim widths, crown heights, colors, materials… on and on the options go! While having so many beautiful options is wonderful, choosing the hat that’s just right for you can be overwhelming. Taking the shape of your face into consideration will help steer you in the right hat style direction.
Round Face To balance out a round face, look for a hat with sharp or asymmetrical lines. A tall crown adds height and has a slimming effect. A fedora is a wonderful hat style for a round face. Sammy D Fedora or Madeline Straw Hat Heart-shaped Face A medium brim will bring a wider forehead into proportion. Go for rounded shapes, such as a cloche, fedora or bucket that will counter a sharp jawline. Brixby Cloche or Jackie G Fedora Square Face A hat with soft lines will complement more defined facial features. It should sit higher on the forehead, to lengthen the lower part of the face. Look for a wide brim, and round or asymmetrical shapes; fedoras, bowlers and floppy hats are good options. Savannah Wide Brimmed Fedora or Native Sun Floppy Hat Long Face Look for a crown that covers the forehead to shorten the face. The brim should be medium to wide, as this will add width to the face. Stay away from tall crowns or smaller brims, which will emphasize the long shape. Great options include floppy hats and cloches. Malibu Floppy Hat Oval Face Those with oval shaped faces have the advantage that most hat styles will suit them. Have fun choosing, Ovals! Belladonna Picture Hat |
